How to contribute your photos to this website

Why are we using flickr?

• It's a free service (up to a certain bandwidth) Streams are advertisement free. (also for 'pro' users).
• It’s easy to use - it's got great uploading tools and privacy controls and social networking capabilities.
• It's got an open API - which means a lot of programs have been written by coders, that make displaying photo's on websites like the biosphere a breeze.
• It's been around since 2004 and is used by millions of photographers - professionals and amateurs alike.
• It's easier for us to administrate community contributions via flickr and that maximises our resources.

How to get started

To contribute a photograph to the Noosa Biosphere website, you must first join the Noosa Biosphere group on Flickr.

1. Go to www.flickr.com
2. 'Sign in' or 'Sign up' for a free account if you are not already a member
3. From your home page, go to the top right hand side of the page and select a 'group' search
4. From the new page that loads (http://www.flickr.com/search/groups/?q=) type "Noosa Biosphere" into the search box
5. Click on "Join?"
6. Complete your request to join the group and we'll confirm your membership
7. Once you receive your confirmation, log back into flickr and select "Your Groups" from the "Groups" tab in the top navigation to view the Noosa Biosphere photo pool

How to contribute photos (or short videos) to the Noosa Biosphere group

1. Upload your photo(s) to flickr - there's a tutorial here if you need it: http://www.flickr.com/tour/upload/)
2. Select the relevant privacy settings: make your photo(s) 'public'
3. Click on your photo to go to your photo's page
4. Click the "Send to Group" button between the photo title and the photo.
5. Select the group you want to send it to. Only you and the group administrators can remove a photo from the group.

If the Noosa Biosphere website shows your image, it will always link through to your original flickr photos and identity. Your copyright is accredited. If you are new to flickr and you are worried about copyright please go to: http://www.flickr.com/help/photos/?search=copyright#87

Please note: Not all images will be featured on the Biosphere Website. We'll review, select and rotate the most interesting and relevant images for each page. We might add other galleries later and select your images when relevant. We might occasionally have to remove images if they are too off-topic, inappropriate or too commercially motivated.
