Environmental interpretation and integrated environmental management

• Why I am involved:
  I am involved because I want to give something back to a community that has given me so much.

  1. Planning and development of a sustainability interpretive centre

  3. Changes in environmentally responsible awareness and behaviour of Sunshine Coast residents post instillation of solar PV
  4. Stand in co-host for Voices of the Biosphere (Noosa Community Radio)

• My relevant experience:
  Sonia has 10 years experience teaching tertiary education in the field of environmental management. She is currently managing a Sustainability Interpretive Centre. It will house 'hands-on' interactive exhibits about sustainability and offer other programs to be experienced by students, industry, businesses, community and tourists.
  
  Sonia’s PhD research used models from environmental psychology to measure perceptions and immediate emotional responses of visitors to enclosure settings and interpretation at aquaria. Guidelines were developed to assist the aquaria industry to design, refurbish and manipulate enclosure settings to deliver visitor experiences conducive to self discovery and learning.
  
  Other experience includes campaigning for an environment group, planning and delivering environmental education at tourism destinations and environmental consultancy.

  ….‘un-stuffing’ the planet through teaching people to rethink and reconnect with nature and each other so that my kids and future generations have a sustainable future. I am passionate about provoking others to self discover ‘The Big Picture’.
