The Board, having considered the implications of the Population Capacity limits, and informed by relevant industry growth rates and employment multipliers, is focusing its attention on leveraging business growth in high value, low environmental impact industries.
The key projects in 2009/2010 create relevant connections to other agencies and organisations, assisting local businesses improve their practices and identify potential new opportunities in the Knowledge Industry.
The key objective is to create a sustainable economy for the benefit of future generations.
The Board acknowledges that there are many players doing excellent work in the region. Creating robust connections and working in partnership with others can achieve excellent outcomes towards furthering the aims and objectives of the Noosa Biosphere.

The previous Noosa Council had enshrined what has affectionately become known as the ‘population cap’ in past Council documentation and the Noosa Plan. This is a world leading example of sustainability thinking in action.

This engagement assisted the Board prioritise its activities.

This requires clarity of objectives to become a leader in the field of how community-led biospheres engage and create programs and approaches that stimulate experimentation, attitudinal changes and create new employment opportunities. Core elements for focus include:
Some Key Concepts are being developed in concert with highly reputable and credible educational and research institutions, including virtual and place-based facilities.
