Community Sector Boards

What do these boards do?

• Promote projects that support the functions of Biospheres, i.e.: Conservation, Sustainable Development and Learning.
• Encourage partnerships between the Sector Boards, and with other organisations, to foster those projects.
• Develop action plans to provide a strategic framework for identification and implementation of projects.
• Provide advice on such projects, plans and other matters
• Monitor progress on the contribution of projects to achieving the overall vision for the Noosa Biosphere Reserve, including development and use of key performance indicators.
• Provide and receive advice without fear or favour.

How can I join?

Selection Process

All nominations are reviewed by members of the Community Sector Boards and then selections are put forward to a working group within Council, for final approval by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

Selection Criteria

In order to achieve well-balanced teams with a range of different but complimentary skills, experience and strengths, the following selection criteria apply:

• Extensive experience and/or a keen interest in one or more themes of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve.
• Sound experience in strategic planning and/or thinking.
• An understanding of sustainability issues within the Noosa Biosphere community.
• Capacity to take a holistic view.
• Enthusiasm for the project and a commitment and capacity to devote the reasonable time required by the Board.

Note: Board members shall be appointed for their individual skills and experience and shall not be appointed to represent the views of any community group or organisation.

Note: In considering any vacant positions, selection will also be based on a gap analysis model and aimed at appointing nominees with skills and qualifications relating to the initiatives to be planned and implemented by the Sector Boards.
