In my presentation I argue for the Biosphere as a learning lab to tackle sustainable housing, we need to look at eco clusters, at grass-root communities. What consideration will need to be embedded into council planning an dregulations? Individual sustainable homes do not benefit from shared resources, mixed zoning and the economy of scale, needed to develop truly sustainable and affordable housing.
What a great learning opportunity a demonstration village could be. Apart from investigating the challenges for the creation of a sustainable community, this would be interesting from an eco tourism perspective and serve as a hub for a Biosphere seminar centre. We could provide a link to other Hinterland eco communities and offer full programmes.
And thank you so much Karyn and Chris from Bellbunya to share their experiences and explain the benefits of their sustainable community.
