Well, after five programs in the Noosa Community Radio Studio One hot seat I am beginning to feel more comfortable with the Voices of the Biosphere radio show format.
Talking to an invisible audience is not as easy as a live presentation. There is no way to get ‘a feel’ for how you are coming across. However, I have great station support and that is much appreciated. We have put about seven interviews to bed so far and each week I will present an interview subject/topic around a biosphere theme.
I am currently assisted by Tasha Lawton. Tasha is helping me approve what goes to air as I won’t have completed the specialist interview course for several weeks. Therefore a big thanks to Tasha for volunteering her time and helping me out in the meantime. So at the end of all this I will have gained some technical skills for making interviews interesting. This old dog likes learning! Eventually I may be able to do live studio interviews however, pre-recorded does seem to be preferred by interviewees when they realise the Uum’s and Ah’s can be taken out.

Our SMS line on 0457 085 055 and the email connection to listeners at radio@noosabiosphere.org.au get about 6-8 queries a week and I have been able to respond to them all on air.
Hopefully this adds currency and interest to listener engagement. I am interested in your feedback, so please don’t hesitate in contacting me via the Radio email or SMS, or by the comment field below.
Food for thought
I was citing some lines from a presentation I got sent by a friend in the last 'Voices of the Biosphere' show. Here is the slideshow I was referring to. Enjoy!
