EVENT: Remembering Noosa Shire (1910 – 2010)
One hundred years ago, the fathers of Noosa Shire believed that Noosa had a population which warranted a central local government. Councillors were elected on April 22nd, 1910, and the first sitting of Council was on May 11th.
On May 8th, 2010, we celebrate the foundation of the Shire and the dedication and commitment of the people of Noosa whose vision has led to Noosa’s being declared a Biosphere. The celebration will be held in Pomona, the ‘historical centre of the Noosa Biosphere’, under the auspices of the Cooroora Historical Society, Inc.
