Our very own Phil Moran recently won a "Local Legend" award on Australia Day.
The Local Legends awards are an initiative of the Tewantin Noosa Lions Club and Noosa Heads Rotary Club, with the support of council. The aim of these Australia Day awards is to recognise an individual/ group for making the Noosa Biosphere region a more enjoyable place to live.
Phil won the local legend category for 'environmental implementation initiatives or studies' and the criteria included: Achievement in fostering, maintaining and enhancing our clean, healthy environment through the protection of all aspects of the region's unique waterways, fauna, flora and all conditions amongh which we live.
You may be aware that Phil is a passionate advocate for the environment and has been involved in natural resource management for more than 25 years.
Phil is a volunteer in many different community and environment initiatives however, his main 'job' is being nautral resource manager for the Noosa & District Landcare Group. We are lucky enough to score a little bit of Phil's volunteer time as Deputy Chairman of Noosa Biosphere Ltd and as our environment blogger.
Well done Phil! You truly are a local legend in the eyes of everyone you meet.
