What a great month! For those of you who didn't make the Noosa Festival of Water last Sunday you missed out on a great day. The sun was shining and there were activities for all ages - including a series of very informative talks in the amphitheatre.
The Noosa Biosphere was there in full swing with an information tent about the Biosphere alongside other community groups. Below is a photo of Varina Nissen (Economic Sector Board), Peter Homan (Cultural Sector Board) and Tim Vercoe (Chair of the Education, Research and Development Board) who were on the volunteer roster for the morning session.
The lovely 'green June mascot' (below) stood for a photograph and then reminded us about one of the final Green June events on TOMORROW - the Living Smart Ecobiz Expo. This is a showcase of businesses and support services to help your business / home become as green as possible. Discover what eco-friendly practices you can implement to achieve cost savings and maximise profits by heading along to: The Events Centre 20 Minchinton St Caloundra, from 10am through to 4pm.
My 8 year old daughter even got into the swing of things by bringing along water samples from both of our tapwater and the local creek (below). The salinity from the sample from Weyba Creek was extremely high, and quite a surprise for the lovely folks from the Mary River Catchment group doing the testing, that was until we described where we took the sample - from the base of the footbridge going across to the Farmers Markets. This then made a lot of sense due to the proximity to the mouth of the Noosa River and the tidal systems.
Celia Jones took an audio recording of the water testing process and the explanation behind the testing, for the purposes of our 'Voices of the Biosphere' program every Friday morning at 11am on 101.3FM
My daughter (Victoria) loved the Wildlife exhibit by the team from Geckos.
We look forward to returning next year for another great family day out.
