The Booin Gari festival has unfortunately been postponed due to the weather.
Booin Gari is a free community event held every year to celebrate local indigenous culture and heritage and hosted by United Synergies.
Booin Gari is a Gubbi Gubbi term meaning Come This Way. The event will be a true opportunity to build positive relationships and share in local Indigenous culture and will feature a range of guest presentations from local community artists and performers as well as learning circles and workshops incorporating story telling, Indigenous art, boomerang art, and bush tucker tastings. There will also be a jumping castle and climbing wall for the children.
Support services will provide displays and be available to assist with information. All activities and performances on the day, including a sausage sizzle and bush tucker will be free.
Booin Gari is to be hosted by United Synergies at its 14 Ernest Street, Tewantin premises at a future date still to be advised.
The event is supported by the Sunshine Coast Council. For further information or to participate in Booin Gari contact Lyn Harris on (07) 5442 4277.
