In 2009, I raised a challenge in Noosa News for businesses to engage in self-generated projects that benefited their customers, and residents as part of a commitment and in support of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve. In her regular articles in the Noosa News Biosphere Page, Stephanie Haslam’s idea of a biosphere kit for those purchasing real estate – land, home or other – is an ideal opportunity for partnership between the biosphere and the real estate business sector.
Biosphere status is a responsibility of everyone to maintain, protect and improve. The real estate sector has already been using biosphere status as an incentive to attract business. But, where is the sharing and caring in taking that status, to enhance reputation of property desirability for commercial gain, while not working actively to support the very thing that is perceived as a sales advantage?
Let’s challenge the leaders of the real estate sector to put aside competitiveness and contribute in a meaningful way towards the asset that provides attractiveness to home ownership and investment in Noosa.
I call upon the top ten agencies to form a working partnership between the real estate sector and Noosa Biosphere and to produce the kit Stephanie suggests? Noosa Biosphere can contribute the correct content while a consortium of leading, biosphere conscious agents sponsor and share design, production and distribution on behalf of their sector and the community.
An eco-friendly electronic version could be available from all agencies via their websites and fully accredited as a sectoral effort in getting the importance of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve message to everyone – purchasers and residents. Every prospect should be offered or receive a hardcopy endorsed by their selected agent.
This partnering to co-operatively share costs and responsibility for the promotion of causes is well established in sectors like tourism. Why not real estate? Why not in support of Noosa Biosphere Reserve?
Noosa Biosphere itself shouldn’t have to be the only source of ideas or initiatives. There is an implied responsibility on businesses which benefit from biosphere status to give back in support of and by reinvesting in maintaining the excellence of the status that creates the desirability of place.
I will make a challenge / call-to-action to see who are the industry leaders who want to meet with Noosa Biosphere and plan this exciting opportunity? It will be interesting to see who will stand up and be counted.
Cheers, Michael.
