The Noosa Biosphere is calling for new board members. With vacancies on many of the sector boards, the biosphere is looking to renew and refresh with talented individuals from all walks of life.
- Do you have a social conscience? Then join the Social Sector Board on their quest for a more inclusive, accessible and affordable biosphere.
- Think you can help make a difference in the business community using ‘triple bottom line’ principals as your guide? Then take a look at the Economic Sector Board.
- Perhaps you have a passion for learning? The education, research and development board has 3 vacancies.
- Are you culturally aware? The Noosa Biosphere Cultural sector board also has 3 vacancies and have been working on creativity and cultural solutions to community challenges.
The boards meet every six weeks for a couple of hours to discuss and action biosphere related activities. Participation is voluntary and in addition, many members put in considerable hours outside those meetings to work in partnership with others to complete projects.
“We have been discussing vacancies for the last couple of months and many boards agreed that it would be great to have some younger folks join us” said Michael Donovan, Chair Noosa Biosphere Ltd.
“Large boards with diverse views can be daunting to some, so we want everyone to know that whatever age or experience, you are most welcome. All that is required is a passion for our Noosa biosphere region”.
With UNESCO endorsement and a track record of many recent projects, the 60+ current board members are keen to work in partnership with the broader community to further the aims and objectives of the Noosa Biosphere reserve.
Applications are encouraged and will be judged on responses to the selection criteria, with forms available from the Biosphere website. Membership is open to anyone, and candidates are chosen by the current sector board members. The recommended candidates are then ratified by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
Applications open on Thursday 28th of January for 3 weeks. Further details on how to apply, including downloadable application forms, are here.
